Assignments that last more than one day...

Postby CindyK on Mon Dec 14, 2009 2:32 pm

I was wondering the best way to schedule longer projects in the Activities tab, such that the student doesn't forget to work on it, but also can keep track of its due date. For instance, I want him to complete an assignment that requires reading a book and writing a report on it. I want it due in 2 weeks. How do I help the student track that they have this project that they should be working on continuously over the next 2 weeks, and is due by then?

Thank you!

To assign something that is good for two weeks, you could write Read "book title" and Write report due in two weeks (12/07 to 12/18) - copy the same assignment good for 2 weeks - if everyday, then copy 10 times - and log the hours done everyday. If you want a detailed report, then you can ask the student to type daily what he/she has specifically done towards the assignment.

I guess I'd have to do that quite a bit- my problem is that I have 2 different geography books that I'll be using this year. One will be used for 19 weeks (which is term 1 and part of term 2) and the other will be part of term 2 through the rest of the year (give or take a week). The first one will be read 2 chapters each week. So 2 chapters will span one week-

Another question- for Bible study the reading will be Luke, Acts, and James for term one. One term is 60 days (12 wks). There are 24 chapters in Luke, 28 in Acts, and 5 in James- that's 57 total chapters which is fine for one term of 60 days. Week one will be chapter 1 of Luke and chapter 1 of Acts- James can come later in the term. To go along with that my student will be listening to a corresponding commentary to these chapters also. So how would this all work out in the activities, courses, etc.

Thanks,

Tessa

You just have to divide your resource to the number of weeks it should be done - spanning the term/semester/ or school year. If one thing needs to be done twice a week, schedule such twice a week - if at some point of the school year you need to change the schedule, then just edit the schedule on Courses-Edit page.
