Unable to get the correct average for the term

Postby schoolingmomma on Mon Nov 30, 2009 3:02 pm

I'm not quite sure what I've done, but I've just now (bad I know) discovered the course groups and had grouped all the courses relating to "Language Arts" under Language Arts.

Right now the only "real" grade I have to report is for Spelling and even though there is a 100 grade in there; It's not showing up on the report card for the Language Arts, and instead it shows an F(20)***. Do I need to change the weighted grading to better reflect the current average for T1? Or am I overlooking something that needs to be filled in?

Hate for the kids to end their last term with an F! LOL

I just realized that the F(20)*** is reflecting the weight I'm giving to Spelling; WhenI changed the weighted grade for the Spelling to 15 percent and checked the report card; It showed an F(15)***; Do I need to change the weighted grades in the course itself or does this mean I have set correctly a grade option for one of the courses?

Course Group looks for a total of 100% on all the components of the group. Since Spelling is only 20%, it is only reporting 20%, a partial grade for the course group. The asterisks mean that the course group grade is not complete and does not add up to 100%. You could make Spelling a course in itself and will be reported as Spelling and the grade that will come up is A(100).

Thank you so much!
That makes so much sense; I just now had realize that it was possible to group everything under one course, a.k.a. "Language Arts" instead of just breaking it down into seperate subjects.

I'll definetely will do that with Spelling and go through the kids portfolio and see if there is material there to assign a grade to, to add to it.
