week or month at a glance tab

Postby Kristine on Sun Sep 06, 2009 4:42 pm

Hi. I feel so fortunate to have found your site and this wonderful lesson scheduler. I tried several others and as of last week returned them all! So far, I have figured out just about all I need to in order to at least get going for this year. I have a lot to learn as I am not an Excel user at all.

Here is my request: I would like to be able to see and print out the week or month at a glance, not just one day. It is so easy to schedule a ton of things and not realize how over scheduled things have gotten without being able to see at least a week at a glance. Some subjects do not take place very day, so to see the whole week would be helpful to make sure things are balanced well and to take into account days that need to be lighter due to outside the house activities like music lessons, sports etc.

thanks so much for this great endeavor you have so boldly stepped up to the plate to take on!
God Bless, Kristine/MN

Due to the nature of home school activities being flexible (meaning it could change daily, depending on how current day goes) , we did not include this feature (printing activities weekly). The system was designed for the teacher to approve the completed activities daily using the computer to avoid typing in completion dates manually.

However, if you want to print the schedule good for 1 week, you can go to Today-Calendar and click on the date links and print the schedule one day at a time.

You can also see total hours enclosed in brackets beside the dates.

I just wanted to comment on printing the weekly schedule (on a single page if possible). I understand that the flexibility of the system that this was designed for makes a weekly or monthly schedule less reliable, but I think that it would still be helpful for families and our children to see the week that we've planned out for them in advanced. Daily printouts are possible, but being able to do it in one quick click or one page, would be nice as well. Obviously, the schedule would change if projects were not completed, but it does help some pre-planning focused students a good idea about what is coming that week.

Just adding my voice to the other's that have also been interested in this feature, in case potential demand may bring it back to consideration in the future.

Thank you for such a great program.

Thank you for the follow-up comment on this. We understand the need for this feature. We will consider the feature to view weekly or monthly display of activities but to be able to print it needs further evaluation. The thing we are trying to avoid is working on the printed weekly or monthly schedule vs logging in to approve daily activities. A week long lag of completion dates could mess up the whole schedule, that is on top of the activities that might have been modified along the way. Manually typing in the completion dates good for five days for each course is a lot of work. Maybe for the first week, everything will look good, but after one week of not logging in and no completion dates were saved, it will be very hard to be back on track unless you have the time to log in all the 5 completion dates one by one for each course.

In relation to this, adding "Next" and "Previous" buttons on the Today-Calendar is already in the works. This would display the schedule for a specific day, next day, and previous day without going back to Today-Calendar to click the date links.

I just wanted to echo this request. I would love to be able to print out a weekly schedule for each child. I will still be logging on daily to check off the activities they complete , but they like to be able to plan their weeks out. 5 sheets of paper seems like a big waste.

Also the next and last pages on the schedule would be helpful too, I hope that is still coming soon even though it's been awhile since this thread was started.

I would be more than happy to pay a few bucks for a premium service if it offered weekly schedule printing in a nicer format and an iPhone app to check off completed activities!

There have been many requests for this week view. As of the moment, all addition of new features to Homeschool Skedtrack is on hold due to a change of priorities. The team is developing another calendar application; thanks for your understanding.

It is not a matter of markig the activity as complete, it's a matter of having a hard copy in front of the student for what they need to do for the week. To be able to see heavy days or tests that are coming up later this week, or have lab equipment ready for a later date. I still would log on at the end of each day and mark the activity complete. It would greatly help with planning if I could see the whole week or month at a glance and print a hard copy. I agree with the person who said that it is a waste of paper to print each day on seperate sheets, especially for multiple students. If the schedule changes, I can reprint the date/s that changed. Thank you for considering this option again.
