Different years, or different days off, for different kids?

Postby tankgirl73 on Sun Oct 21, 2012 3:15 pm

Hi there,

I was wondering if there was a way to do either one of two things. I have two kids of very different levels (grade 9 and grade K/1) and they have very different schedules. My grade 9 started the school year 'as usual' in September, but we didn't start doing any 'school' with my K/1 until October. So she's marked as "absent" for every day prior to that. Also, there are times when one or the other of them has some kind of holiday or activity or event that gives them a 'day off', but the other one is home and 'doing school'. But if I call it a "day off", then it appears as work done on a vacation day (green box) rather than a regular day; or if I just call it a regular day, then the kid with the day off is marked absent.

So is it possible to do either:

1) set up different school years for separate students (with different start dates) or
2) set up different vacation dates for separate students

I can see the possibility of creating an alternate account for myself and having one for each student, but that seems far less convenient than the switch back and forth within accounts. It would be easier to have this part of the admin linked separately to each student rather than global and non-customizable... if possible. :) Like, how I can set up a Field Trip and then register one or both students to it. I can register only one student to the school year, if I want, but it will not let me create an overlapping school year to register a different student to.

One account in Homeschool Skedtrack is per family, hence per homeschool. It will have the same SY start and end dates, Days Off, etc. Yes, creating a separate account using a separate email address would serve your purpose.
