Scheduling by term

Postby thebondfam on Tue Aug 26, 2008 8:46 pm

Hi, I just discovered Homeschool Skedtrack this evening and am trying it out. I am very pleased. Thanks for sharing this.

Is there a way to schedule courses by term? For instance, if I want to schedule different books for each term in history, say Our Island Story for Term 1, and Augustus Caesar's World for term 2, This Country of Ours for term 3, etc., how would I go about doing that? Will it keep track of books by term?

Thanks for your help.

Scheduling of activities is done by course. If you are using different books for each term in a course, this is the workaround: Roughly divide the total number of school days with the number of terms and make that number of activities for each book.

For example: Total school days: 180; No of terms: 4
Then each term will have 45 days equivalent to 45 activities. You can then make 45 activities from each book and putting them in the activities page sequentially with activities for 1st book (1-45), 2nd book (46-90), 3rd book (91-135), and 4th book (136-180).

Hope this helps.

Actually, couldn't each book study be a separate course in the same subject, if you remember to untoggle the "synch with school year" box when you set them up? Then just set up the dates for each course to match the dates of the term, no?

Yes, you can also do it that way. To achieve this, you still need to divide the resource to fit the days on the term which is just the same effort as having one course for all. Also, a disadvantage of this approach is displaying 4 different courses on the Activities tab making a long list.
