Weighting of Tests

Postby Cookie Momster on Fri Jul 31, 2009 2:09 pm

Is there a way to put a different grade weighting on different tests? For example in my daughter's math curriculum it has an end of lesson test, an end of unit test, and then an end of year test. I want the lesson tests to carry a total of 25% of the weight, the unit tests to carry 25% of the weight and the final test to carry 50% of the weight. Is there a way to do this?

You may call the end of lesson test as Quiz, the end of unit as Test and the Final Test as Other, for the meantime. We will be adding the type Final Test or Long Test later. Assigning different weights for these can be done on the Course-Edit page - scroll all the way down. However, the computation of grade is per term. This would mean that every term, the grade calculation will expect a Final Test grade input which will get 50% of the weight for each term grade - this will happen if you choose at least 2 terms for the number of terms set on the Admin-School Year Term number link. The default for the number of terms is 4.

If you choose 2 terms(or more) and would like to give only one overall Final Test with a weight of 50% of the Final Grade, the computation of grade will now be different. We will take a look and consider this.

Now, if the whole school year is just 1 term, then there wouldn't be any problem but the Report Card will display only T1 and Final Grade.
