Can activities have resources?

What is the best way to do this:
How can I associate certain resources with an activity? For example: A special science project for the day requires some "things" to be gathered, or supplies for an art project, or a library book that I need, etc. etc. What is the best way for me to make note that I need to acquire somethings in order to complete the activity?
