Absent / Auto Generate Activities

Postby lfiatoa on Sat Mar 12, 2011 1:21 am

Hi all,
Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I don't use the program everyday since I don't record grades everyday or enter activities. It really just takes up too much time. I do my grading on the weekend and enter my kid's schedule on the weekend as well. I haven't really been able to grasp the whole marking absent, auto generate thing. For instance my children were absent for a week. I did the auto generate when I first started using the program about a month ago. For the last 2 weeks I haven't been able to get on, so I tried the 'auto generate' and all the absences that I had marked now showed them as being present. Needless to say I had to go back and delete the activities. My question is, is there a way to auto generate that doesn't create activities for days that are meant to be marked absent or a way to select certain dates to auto generate activities?

Also, it would be nice if the program offered an easier way of reporting attendance, for instance an 'Attendance' tab.

Thanks,
Laura

What you did was correct. The auto-generate is for days when you did not use Homeschool Skedtrack but you did schoolwork. This will mark them as present because the system will generate the activities that they should have done during those days. The auto-generate does not have a date range so you cannot use it for specific days. If you want them to stay absent on certain days, then you will just have to delete those. Another option will be to go to each course on Activities-Edit Activities and add the completion date manually good for 1 week. The best option will be to log everyday and just check off the activities and save.

Thanks for the suggestion on the Attendance tab. We'll look into it.
